Binding

Yes the quilting is finished but no Photos till I've finished the binding, I've sewed it on by machine so now it's onto the hand sewing -- this will take me some time as I think the hand-sewing on a binding is a weak point so I like to make my stitches very close together and put a knot stitch in every so often, don't know if it makes any difference but it makes me happy! Also feel happy that this quilt is well on the way to being finished the top was finished about a year ago apart from the border so about time it went to a good home!!

Indigo dying

Today was indigo dying day at Blackpool quilters and what good fun, of course I've now got blue hands because I couldn't take out the thread wrappings or undo the knots with my rubber gloves on. I've given them a good scrub and cut my nails short and soon it will wear off.
I've washed all my pieces and now they are line drying so will get a pic when they have been ironed---then I will have to make something good they are not going to languish in a box!!!

Machine quilting

after 3 days of pinning this quilt

and a bit of this

I'm now starting the machine quilting -- just plain diagonal straight lines, I can only manage a couple of hours a day before my shoulders beg for mercy!! so maybe it will be quilted and ready for binding by next week!! Hope so I'm beginning to rather dislike this quilt now, never mind I will love it once it is finished I always do.

Backing!!

It has taken me most of the afternoon to make this backing

I managed to use three different lengths of fabric to make a good looking strippy backing, stuff that has been in the yardage cupboard for ages including an odd looking piece of Fossil Fern that looks good with the two pinks and will be all used up apart from the trimmings which will go into my scrap box,so glad I made the effort and now onto the layering up!!!

More finishes

The baby blue quilt went to London with DD last weekend so then had to press on with a quilt suitable for a girl. This quilt had to be finished by this weekend as DD is coming back to pick up a new car and she can take the quilt back with her, and I've met the challenge all it needs is the label and a lavender bag and off it goes.

I also finished the top of this bed quilt (100x108 inches) which is going to be a wedding gift.

Just to find a backing --- think it will have to be a scrappy backing as the backing cupboard did not yield anyone piece big enough despite looking like this after my search!!!!
so it's back to work constructing a backing and will see how many fabrics I use!!

Daisy May

Today we said good-bye to our elderly EBT she had developed cancer and given her age our only course of action was a trip to the vet and she went to sleep in my arms. Sleep tight we had so many laughs run free at the Rainbow Bridge no more pain and you can hear and see again.

No sewing just lots of tears.
